Differential contactor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003167
An apparatus designed for continuous countercurrent extraction processes, where two immiscible liquid phases flow past each other, allowing for mass transfer of a solute between them. The concentration of the solute changes continuously along the length of the contactor, creating a concentration gradient that drives the separation. Examples include packed columns and spray columns.
