Stage
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011275
A discrete step or equilibrium section within a multi-step separation process, such as liquid-liquid extraction or distillation. Each stage represents a zone where components are brought into intimate contact, allowing for mass transfer between phases. In countercurrent extraction, multiple stages are arranged sequentially to achieve higher separation efficiency.
