Pyranoses
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009695
Monosaccharides that exist in a six-membered ring form, consisting of five carbon atoms and one oxygen atom. This cyclic structure is formed by the intramolecular reaction between a carbonyl group and a hydroxyl group. Glucose and galactose commonly adopt the pyranose form in aqueous solutions.
