Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005603

Nitrogen analogues of cyclic anhydrides, built by exchanging each carbonyl oxygen for an =NR group and the ring oxygen for an NR group, so the ring contains the sequence C(=NR)-NR-C(=NR). The C=N nitrogens sit outside the ring as substituents. They are the doubly imino-substituted counterparts of cyclic imides, which keep their carbonyl oxygens.
