Diamidides

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013036

Compounds of the type RC(=NR)-NR-C(=NR)R, built like open-chain carboxylic acid anhydrides but with nitrogen in place of oxygen: each carbonyl oxygen becomes an NR group and the bridging oxygen becomes another NR group. They are N-imidoyl amidines, and the class is also called 1,3,5-triazapentadienes. The name follows that of the anhydrides.
