Amidines

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000486

Organic compounds characterized by a C(=N)-N functional group, where the carbon atom is double-bonded to a nitrogen atom and single-bonded to another nitrogen atom. These compounds are derivatives of carboxylic acids where the C=O group is replaced by a C=NR group and the OH group is replaced by an NHR group. They exist in tautomeric forms, often favoring the imino form.
