Amides

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000485

Organic compounds containing a carbonyl group bonded to a nitrogen atom, forming a functional group with the general structure R-CO-NR'R''. This structure is derived from a carboxylic acid and an amine. Amides are prevalent in biological systems, notably as the peptide bonds linking amino acids in proteins.
