Peptides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008613
Compounds consisting of two or more amino acid residues linked in a chain, where the carboxyl group of each acid is joined to the amino group of the next by a peptide bond. These biological oligomers and polymers are structurally intermediate between single amino acids and proteins. By convention, molecules containing fewer than about 50 amino acid residues are classified as peptides, while longer chains are classified as proteins.
