Glyco-amino-acid
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013131
An amino acid molecule that has a carbohydrate moiety covalently attached to it. The carbohydrate can be linked to the amino acid through an N-glycosidic bond to the amide nitrogen or an O-glycosidic bond to a hydroxyl group. These modified amino acids are fundamental building blocks for glycoproteins and peptidoglycans.
