Glycosamines
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004947
Amino sugars in which the amino group replaces a hydroxyl group on the carbohydrate moiety. These compounds are derivatives of monosaccharides where one or more hydroxyl groups have been substituted with an amine functional group. A common example is glucosamine, which is found in chitin and other polysaccharides.
