Glycoproteomics
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013132
The large-scale study of glycoproteins, including their structures, functions, and expression patterns within a biological system. It aims to identify the protein backbone, characterize the attached glycan structures, and determine the specific sites of glycosylation. Methodologies frequently combine enzymatic cleavage of glycans, enrichment techniques like lectin affinity chromatography, and analysis by mass spectrometry to map the glycoproteome.
