Glycoprotein
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004946
A protein that has one or more oligosaccharide chains covalently attached to its polypeptide backbone. These carbohydrate modifications, known as glycosylations, occur post-translationally and can influence protein folding, stability, and cellular recognition. Glycoproteins are abundant on cell surfaces and in secreted fluids, playing roles in immunity and cell signaling.
