Proteoglycan
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009595
A type of glycoprotein consisting of a core protein covalently attached to one or more glycosaminoglycan chains. These macromolecules are a major component of the extracellular matrix in animal tissues, providing structural support and regulating cell signaling. They are found in connective tissues, cartilage, and bone, contributing to their hydration and resilience.
