Mesenchyme
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007201
An embryonic connective tissue derived primarily from the mesoderm, characterized by loosely organized cells embedded in an extracellular matrix. These cells are multipotent and can differentiate into a variety of cell types, including bone, cartilage, fat, and muscle. It is found throughout the developing embryo and is involved in the formation of many organs and tissues.
