Mesenchymal-to-epithelial transition

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007200

A biological process in which mesenchymal cells, characterized by their migratory and invasive properties, transform into epithelial cells, which are typically stationary and form cohesive sheets. This transition involves changes in cell adhesion, polarity, and gene expression. It is a key event in organ development, tissue repair, and certain disease processes.
