Charge-transfer transition to solvent
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001922
An electronic transition where an electron is transferred from a solute molecule to the surrounding solvent molecules upon excitation. This phenomenon is observed in solutions containing certain anions or metal complexes. The energy of this transition is highly dependent on the solvent's properties, such as its polarity and electron-accepting ability.
