Charge-transfer step
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001921
An elementary reaction within an overall electrochemical process where an electron or multiple electrons are transferred across the electrode-electrolyte interface. This step is often the rate-determining step in many electrochemical reactions, influencing the overall reaction kinetics. The rate of this step is described by the Butler-Volmer equation.
