This sequence includes mass transport of reactants to the electrode, any chemical reactions preceding the charge transfer, the electron transfer step itself at the interface, and subsequent chemical reactions or mass transport of products away from the surface. The overall rate of the process is determined by the slowest step in this sequence.",
