Intramolecular charge transfer emission
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006014
The emission of light from a molecule following an intramolecular charge transfer process. After excitation, electron density shifts within the molecule from a donor to an acceptor group, and the subsequent relaxation back to the ground state releases energy as a photon. This emission often exhibits a large Stokes shift and sensitivity to solvent polarity.
