Electron back-transfer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003707

The recombination of separated charges in a photoinduced electron transfer process, where an electron returns from the acceptor to the donor. This process, also known as charge recombination, competes with productive chemical reactions or energy transfer from the charge-separated state. It often leads to the dissipation of excitation energy as heat.
