Charge separation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001905
The process by which an excited molecular entity undergoes a redistribution of electron density, leading to the formation of distinct positive and negative charge centers. This often occurs after photoexcitation, where an electron is transferred from a donor to an acceptor moiety. Charge separation is a fundamental step in photosynthesis and photovoltaic devices.
