Charge-transfer exciton
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001918
An excited state in a polymer where an electron and a hole are bound together but are localized on different molecular units or segments of the polymer chain. This separation of charge gives the exciton a dipole moment. Such excitons are often formed at the interface between donor and acceptor materials in organic photovoltaics.
