Exciton absorption
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004191
The process where a photon is absorbed by a material, leading to the creation of an exciton, which is a bound electron-hole pair. This phenomenon is characteristic of semiconductors and insulators, occurring at energies below the band gap. Exciton absorption spectra often show distinct peaks at specific wavelengths.
