Exciton
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004190
A mobile, electrically neutral quasiparticle representing an excited state in a semiconductor or insulator. It consists of an electron and an electron hole that are attracted to one another by their electrostatic interaction. This bound pair can transfer energy through a crystal lattice without transporting net electric charge.
