Exciton dissociation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004194
The process where a bound electron-hole pair (exciton) separates into a free electron and a free hole, which can then move independently through the material. This typically occurs at an interface or in the presence of an electric field. Exciton dissociation is a fundamental step in the operation of organic photovoltaic devices.
