Exciton diffusion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004193
The movement of an exciton, a bound state of an electron and an electron hole, through a material from its point of generation to a different location. In organic semiconductors and polymers, this transport occurs via energy transfer between adjacent molecules without the net transport of charge. The average distance an exciton travels before recombination is known as the exciton diffusion length, a parameter that ranges from 5 to 20 nanometers in many polymers.
