Back electron transfer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001066
The transfer of an electron from a reduced species to an oxidized species within a geminate radical ion pair or exciplex, leading to the regeneration of the ground state reactants. This process competes with charge separation and product formation in photochemical reactions. It often results in the dissipation of excitation energy as heat.
