Electronic state
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003756
A specific energy level and configuration of electrons within an atom or molecule. This state is characterized by the quantum numbers of all its electrons, including their spatial distribution and spin orientations. Transitions between different electronic states are responsible for the absorption and emission of light.
