Energy level
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003925
A specific, quantized state of energy that an electron or other particle can occupy within an atom or molecule. Transitions between these discrete levels involve the absorption or emission of photons with specific energies. The energy levels are described by quantum numbers and are unique for each atomic or molecular species.
