Energy hypersurface
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003924
A multidimensional surface that represents the potential energy of a molecular system as a function of its nuclear coordinates. Each point on the surface corresponds to a specific molecular geometry and its associated potential energy. Minima on this surface correspond to stable molecular structures, while saddle points represent transition states.
