Bifurcation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001215
A point in a reaction pathway where a single transition state leads to two or more distinct reaction products or intermediates. This occurs when the potential energy surface has multiple downhill paths from a single saddle point. Such points can lead to complex product distributions and stereochemical outcomes.
