Stereoconvergence

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011369

A process in which two or more stereoisomeric starting materials react to yield a single stereoisomeric product, or a mixture of products with a constant stereoisomeric composition. This implies that the stereochemical outcome of the reaction is independent of the initial stereochemistry of the reactants. It is often observed in reactions involving reactive intermediates that lose their original stereochemical information.
