Stereospecificity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011390
A characteristic of a reaction in which stereoisomeric reactants yield stereoisomerically different products. This implies that the stereochemistry of the reactant directly dictates the stereochemistry of the product. For example, a reaction might convert a cis isomer exclusively to a cis product and a trans isomer exclusively to a trans product.
