Asymmetric induction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000859

The preferential formation of one enantiomer or diastereomer over another during a chemical reaction, influenced by a chiral center already present in the reactant or reagent. This phenomenon leads to the generation of new chiral centers with a specific stereochemical outcome. It is a key concept in asymmetric synthesis for controlling the stereochemistry of products.
