Pseudo-asymmetric carbon atom
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009629
A carbon atom in a molecule that is bonded to four different groups, two of which are enantiomeric to each other. While it appears chiral, its configuration can change upon inversion of one of the enantiomeric groups. This atom is designated with 'r' or 's' in lowercase to distinguish it from true chiral centers.
