Asymmetry
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000867
The absence of symmetry elements in a molecule or object, meaning it cannot be superimposed on its mirror image. This property is directly related to chirality, where an asymmetric molecule is always chiral. A molecule with an asymmetric carbon atom is a common example of an asymmetric structure.
