Asymmetric membrane

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000860

A membrane characterized by a non-uniform structure across its cross-section, typically consisting of a dense, selective skin layer supported by a much thicker, porous sublayer. This structural asymmetry provides high flux while maintaining good separation efficiency. Such membranes are widely used in reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration processes.
