Reverse osmosis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010316
A membrane separation process that removes dissolved solids and other impurities from a fluid by applying pressure to force the fluid through a semipermeable membrane. The applied pressure must exceed the osmotic pressure, causing the solvent to flow from a region of higher solute concentration to lower concentration.
