Electro-osmotic pressure

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003774

The pressure difference that develops across a porous membrane or capillary when an electric field is applied parallel to the surface, causing the bulk liquid to flow. This pressure arises from the movement of the diffuse layer of ions in the electrical double layer. It is a manifestation of electro-osmosis.
