Electroosmosis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003771
The bulk flow of a liquid through a porous medium or a capillary tube under the influence of an applied electric field. This phenomenon arises from the interaction between the electric field and the mobile counter-ions in the electrical double layer at the solid-liquid interface. It is a key driving force in capillary electrophoresis.
