Electroosmotic volume flow rate

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003777

The volume of liquid moved per unit time by electroosmosis through a capillary or plug, divided by the electric field strength applied across it. Because the field is divided out, it depends on the cross-section of the capillary, the zeta potential of the wall and the viscosity of the liquid, and it is quoted in m4 V-1 s-1. The undivided flow rate is the product of the cross-sectional area and the electroosmotic velocity.
