Electro-dialysis

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003678

A membrane separation process that uses an electric potential difference to drive ions across ion-exchange membranes, separating them from uncharged species or other ions. Cation-exchange membranes and anion-exchange membranes are arranged alternately between electrodes. This technique is commonly used for desalination of water and demineralization of solutions.
