Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003125

A separation technique that uses a semipermeable membrane to separate molecules based on their size. Small molecules and ions can pass through the membrane, while larger molecules, such as proteins or colloids, are retained. This method is widely used in biochemistry for purifying macromolecules and in medicine for kidney failure treatment.
