Peritoneal dialysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008661
A medical procedure for treating kidney failure by filtering waste products from the blood inside the patient's body. A sterile solution is introduced into the peritoneal cavity through a catheter, where the peritoneum acts as a natural filter. After a dwell time, the fluid, now containing waste, is drained and replaced, often performed at home.
