Dialysate
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003124
The liquid phase that collects on the side of a semipermeable membrane opposite to the solution undergoing dialysis. This fluid contains the smaller solute molecules or ions that have passed through the membrane, separated from the larger molecules or colloidal particles retained in the original solution. The composition of the dialysate depends on the initial solution and the membrane's pore size.
