Pallmann effect

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008427

The observed difference in pH between a colloidal suspension and its equilibrium dialysate, typically measured using a glass electrode. This effect arises from the unequal distribution of ions between the two phases due to the presence of charged colloidal particles. It is also known as the suspension effect.
