Christiansen effect

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002035

A phenomenon observed when light passes through a suspension of transparent particles in a liquid, where the refractive index of the particles matches that of the liquid at a specific wavelength. At this wavelength, scattering is minimized, and the suspension becomes transparent, while at other wavelengths, scattering occurs. This effect is used in optical filters.
