Christiansen filter
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002036
An optical filter consisting of a suspension of transparent solid particles in a liquid, where both phases have similar refractive indices but different dispersions. The filter transmits a narrow band of wavelengths where the refractive indices match, causing light of other wavelengths to be scattered. The transmitted wavelength can be tuned by changing the temperature, which alters the refractive indices of the components.
