Low-pass filter
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006793
An electronic or optical filter that allows signals with frequencies below a certain cutoff frequency to pass through, while attenuating signals with frequencies above it. In analytical instrumentation, this is used to remove high-frequency noise from a signal, improving the signal-to-noise ratio. For electromagnetic radiation, a low-pass filter transmits longer wavelengths and blocks shorter ones.
