Cut-on filter

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002805

An optical filter that transmits radiation at wavelengths longer than a specified cut-on wavelength and attenuates radiation at shorter wavelengths. The transition from low to high transmittance is not perfectly sharp and is characterized by a slope over a narrow wavelength range. These filters are the inverse of cut-off filters, which transmit radiation with wavelengths shorter than a specific cut-off value.
